Barrett Township Management Update: January 2025

Barrett Township recently held its annual reorganization meetings, bringing several key updates to the township's leadership and operations. Here’s a summary of the changes and updates impacting the community:

Roadmaster Retirement and Transition

Long-time Roadmaster John Seese officially retired from his position in October 2024. In addition, Seese resigned from his role as Township Supervisor on January 6, 2025. Following these transitions, Jim Seese has been appointed as the new Roadmaster to lead the township's road maintenance and infrastructure projects moving forward. His experience and commitment to the community will be vital as he steps into this role.

The township now has 30 days to appoint a new Supervisor to fill the vacancy left by John Seese’s resignation:

Residents are encouraged to attend upcoming township meetings over the next month to stay informed and participate in this important process.

Upcoming Retirement of Jeryl Rinehart

Jeryl Rinehart, Barrett Township’s Zoning and Sewage Enforcement Officer, has announced plans to retire in March 2025. Rinehart’s contributions to the township over the years have been significant, and her presence will be missed as she concludes her service.

Pam Gardsy’s Expanded Role

Pam Gardsy continues to serve as a Supervisor and holds the official title of Administrative and Operations Director for the township. For the year 2025, Gardsy’s hourly rate increased to $36.05, up from $35 per hour in 2024. In addition, she plays a critical role as the township’s grant writer, for which she receives a separate $10,000 payment for her efforts in grant writing and application management.

Gardsy originally joined the township as the Executive Secretary/Treasurer in January 2015, replacing Rick Scrudato. In 2022, she was elected to serve as a Township Supervisor, further expanding her leadership role within the community.

Solar Panel Project Near Completion

A solar panel project on the roof of the new administrative building (BARC) is nearing completion and is almost ready to be connected. This initiative has been supported by a $300,000 grant from the Hughes Foundation, demonstrating Barrett Township’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions and reducing operational costs.

Looking Ahead

These changes mark a period of transition for Barrett Township, with both challenges and opportunities on the horizon. The community’s leadership remains committed to ensuring a smooth transition and maintaining the high standards of service that residents expect.
