Barrett Township recently held its annual reorganization meetings, bringing several key updates to the township's leadership and operations. Here’s a summary of the changes and updates impacting the community:
Roadmaster Retirement and Transition
Long-time Roadmaster John Seese officially retired from his position in October 2024. In addition, Seese resigned from his role as Township Supervisor on January 6, 2025. Following these transitions, Jim Seese has been appointed as the new Roadmaster to lead the township's road maintenance and infrastructure projects moving forward. His experience and commitment to the community will be vital as he steps into this role.
INVITATION FOR BIDS TAKE NOTICE that the Barrett Township Board of Supervisors invites and will receive sealed bids for paving of the Barrett Administrative and Recreation Complex driveway and parking lots located at 1200 Route 390, Cresco, PA in Barrett Township, Monroe County, Pennsylvania. Bids will be received until 3:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at 1200 Route 390, Cresco, Pennsylvania 18326. All bids must be submitted upon forms furnished by Barrett Township and returned in a sealed envelope clearly marked “BARC Paving Bid 2024 – Barrett Township.” Faxed bids and bids received after the deadline will not be accepted. Copies of the Contract Documents including detailed specifications may be obtained at the Barrett Township municipal offices at the address listed above. All materials must conform to PennDOT specifications and standards as provided in Publication 408, as amended. Pennsylvania Prevailing wages may apply to this contract depending on the bid amount. The Contract Documents contain requirements addressing prevailing labor wage rates, labor standards, nondiscrimination in hiring practices and related matters. All contractors and subcontractors must comply with the Pennsylvania Public Works Employment Verification Act. The Act requires the contractor to verify employment eligibility through the e-verify program operated by the United States Department of Homeland Security as a precondition of being awarded a contract for this project. The Contract Documents contain information regarding the Act. Each bid must be accompanied by a proposal security in the amount of 10% of the amount bid in the form of a certified check, bank cashier's check, or satisfactory bid bond naming Barrett Township as payee. No bid or proposal may be withdrawn before July 11, 2024. The successful bidder must furnish a performance bond in the amount of 100% of the amount of the bid, naming Barrett Township as payee. The successful bidder will also be bound by the terms and conditions of the Contract Documents. The Board of Supervisors will open and read aloud every sealed bid at a public meeting on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at 5:30 P.M. and may award a contract immediately thereafter or at a subsequent public meeting, the date and time of which will be announced after bids are opened. The Board of Supervisors will award the contract to the lowest responsible bidder or may reject all bids within 30 days of the date of the bid opening. The Board reserves the right to reject any or all bids or parts thereof, and to waive any defects or irregularities in the proposals. The Board further reserves the right to reject any proposal deemed not to be in the best interest of Barrett Township. By order of the Barrett Township Board of Supervisors
State Reps. Maureen Madden, Tarah Probst and Jack Rader have announced about $5.2 million in grants for projects in Monroe and Pike counties.
The Local Share Account grants were approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority.
Barrett Township: $331,838 to pave the parking lots and entrance roads surrounding the Barrett Township Administrative and Recreation Complex.
