John was a bus driver for Greyhound Bus Lines for over 35 years. After his retirement, he became a school bus driver for Pocono Mountain School District. He also worked in the maintenance, custodial and security departments for the school district. He was truly happy when he was keeping busy, so he had many odd jobs through the years. He drove a shuttle bus at Camelback for many ski seasons; was a maintenance man for Onawa Townhouses, in Mountainhome, and at his church; he drove a tractor trailer for The Ivy Guild; and had many other jobs. When he wasn't working, he could always be found tending to his yard and flowers, as well as tinkering with lawn mowers and other machinery. He couldn't sit still, and absolutely loved keeping his hands occupied with all kinds of projects, and helping anyone who needed it. John was a member of Most Holy Trinity Parish in Cresco.
John is survived by a son, Michael Orleski, of Shavertown; daughters, Joanne Ackers and her husband Daniel, of Scotrun; and Suzanne Kuehner and her husband Michael, of Saylorsburg; a grandson, Landon Kuehner, also of Saylorsburg; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, John is also preceded in death by his siblings: Julia Miscavage, Helen Sobolewski, Veronica Healey, Frances Czock, Bridgett Colleran, Alec Alexy and Peter, Stanley and Paul Orleski.
A visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Bolock Funeral Home in Cresco. Visitation will also be held at Most Holy Trinity Church, on Route 390 in Cresco, at 10 a.m. Monday, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Burial with military honors will take place at Laurelwood Cemetery in Stroudsburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Animals Can't Talk, 1167 Woodland Dr., East Stroudsburg, PA 18301; or Feline Urban Rescue and Rehab, P.O. Box 144, Stewartsville, NJ 08886.
