COOLBAUGH TWP., MONROE CO. (WOLF) — Pocono Regional Police were able to arrest a suspect after an hour-long standoff in Tobyhanna Sunday.

Officers were called to the scene for a domestic incident in the 2800 block of Fairhaven Drive in a Pocono Country Place Sunday morning around 7:45am.

Police allege 35-year-old Dereck Hayes of Cresco assaulted someone in the home and upon police arrival, refused to speak with them and barricaded himself inside the home.

Hayes made threats to police and brandished firearms outside of the home, pointing guns at officers.

Hayes surrendered to police after an hour and was transported to Monroe County Correctional Facility where he is being held on $50,000 bail.

Hayes is being charged for aggravated assault, resisting arrest, simple assault, endangering welfare of children, possessing instruments of crime, and harassment.
