An iconic – and dormant – Pocono hotel is being sold by sealed bid. The Inn at Buck Hill Falls in Barrett Township, Monroe County, which opened in 1901 as an 18-room inn, expanded to a more than 400-room resort and conference center. It closed in 1991.
According to its website, the property, which includes nearly 140 acres, is owned by Falls Road Funding LLC and is being auctioned by Hollywood Real Estate Services LLC of Maryland.
Kazunas noted the property was foreclosed on. His company is tasked with finding a buyer in a sealed bid auction, which has no minimum bid.
The property previously was considered for rehabilitation into condominiums and a boutique hotel.
“The seller is entertaining any and all viable offers from bidders,” he said.
Included in the sale are the hotel structure and the property, which includes about 140 single-family lots which could be developed by a homebuilder, Kazunas said.
He said there is a community of about 300 homes surrounding the property, and the nearby village of Buck Hill Falls has a 27-hole golf course and tennis courts.
Sealed bids must be received by March 30 at the Washington office of Summit Commercial Real Estate LLC, 1990 M Street, NW, Suite 600, Washington, D.C. 20036
