Hi Everyone,
I've updated some of the information in our Downloads section related to the Barrett Township Volunteer Fire Department.
Clarifications regarding the asset inventory posted previously:
Respectfully submitted,
Nate Covington
Two years ago, Chief Grover Cleveland thought it would take until at least 2023 to complete the renovations necessary to repair Barrett Township’s 30-year-old firehouse.
Thanks to a $148,270 grant the volunteer fire company received last year, they were able to complete all of that work in less than 12 months.
“It’s really nice and I’m glad we were able to do it without taking money from the township,” Cleveland said. “It helps out with training, cleanliness. We’re able to have two things going on at once.”
Update 7/12/18:
This ordinance was passed at the last night's (July 11) meeting
Clarification:
This ordinance only applies to 'large' fireworks displays (e.g. if you hire a professional company). All others are regulated by the State of Pennsylvania.
Pennsylvania's purchases of consumer-grade fireworks are limited to buyers 18 and older, and have usage restrictions, including requiring permission from the property owner, not using them inside buildings or motor vehicles or within 150 feet of an occupied structure.

Barrett Township has been awarded an LSA Grant for $148,270 for the Firehouse Renovations Project. The renovations include: Roof, Painting, Meeting Rooms Flooring, Engine Room Flooring, Folding Door (Meeting room), Furnace, AC, Overhead Doors, Sound Blocks and Doors. Work is anticipated to start Summer 2018
The Barrett Township Volunteer Fire Company is vital. "Their firehouse here is the hub of all the activity," says Pam Gardsy, Barrett Township's Executive Secretary Treasurer.
But the building is falling apart.
Gardsy adds, "it's very dated."
Thanks to a $148,000 dollar grant, the firehouse's floors, roof, and heating system will be repaired.
